A wood-textured fireplace is a polyurethane product with a surface worked to look like wood grain, used as a decorative fireplace surround. In a decorative (fuel-free) fireplace setup it is fitted to the wall to create the look of a wood-clad hearth, and is used as a focal feature in living rooms and sitting rooms. Polyurethane is light and bonds directly to the wall with mounting adhesive. It resists moisture and impact, and unlike real wood it does not rot, attract insects or crack, and is paintable. The wood grain on its surface is mould-cast, so it looks identical on every piece. As it is decorative, an electric flame effect or decorative element can be placed inside it.
