Amorphous ceiling decor is organic-shaped polyurethane ceiling decoration made of fluid, irregular curves rather than a defined geometric form. It is used on modern and contemporary ceilings to create indirect lighting channels and free-form reliefs. Polyurethane mouldings are lightweight and are fixed to the ceiling with assembly adhesive; the curvable forms are mould-produced, resist moisture and impact, do not crack or swell and can be painted. Being lighter and more flexible than a plaster equivalent makes it easier to apply curved and irregular lines. Because they are mould-produced, the surface details repeat identically on every piece.
