patterned column base

A patterned column base is the polyurethane base element on which a column or half-column rests on the floor, with a decorative pattern on its surface. It is used in interior and exterior decoration as the base that carries the column shaft. The polyurethane material is lightweight and applied with mounting adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, will not crack, swell or peel, and can be painted. Because it is unaffected by moisture at floor level, it holds its shape far longer than a wooden base. As it is moulded, the pattern detail on the base repeats identically in every piece and matches the dimensions of the column shaft.
