patterned base

A patterned base is the polyurethane base element forming the lower foot of a column or pilaster, with a decorative pattern on its surface. It is used in interior and exterior decoration as the base where the column shaft meets the floor. The polyurethane material is lightweight and applied with mounting adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, will not crack, swell or peel, and can be painted. Because it is unaffected by moisture at floor level, it holds its shape far longer than a wooden base and is lighter than plaster. As it is moulded, the pattern detail on the base repeats identically in every piece and matches the dimensions of the column shaft. Polure produces the patterned base in sizes suited to different column diameters.
