dentil string course

A dentil string course is a polyurethane moulding that emphasises the horizontal line between the floors of a building and carries a row of dentils on its underside. It is used to mark the transition between storeys on the facade and to add a rhythmic, shadow-casting line. The dentil form brings the dentil detail of classical cornices onto the facade. Polyurethane is lightweight and resistant to moisture, impact and outdoor weather; it will not crack, blister and can be painted. Being lighter than plaster or timber, it can be fitted quickly on tall facades with construction adhesive and mechanical fixing.
