doric column capital piece

A doric column capital is a plain, simple polyurethane column capital belonging to the classical Doric order. It consists of a cushion-shaped echinus and a flat plate (abacus); it carries no ornament and finishes the column shaft in a plain manner. It is fitted to the top of the column to complete the classical order. Polyurethane is lightweight and resistant to moisture and impact; it will not crack, blister and can be painted. Being far lighter than stone or plaster, it is easily fixed with construction adhesive and can be applied by one person. Since it is moulded, the capital profile repeats identically on every piece. Polure manufactures Doric column capitals in a range of diameters and sizes.
