A wide skirting board is a polyurethane base-of-wall profile with a tall cross-section that creates a wide band at the junction of wall and floor. It is used to protect the base of the wall from impacts and cleaning marks, and to clearly emphasise the floor transition. Polyurethane is lightweight and is applied to the base of the wall with mounting adhesive. It resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell, and can be painted to match the wall colour. Despite being tall, it is light compared to a wooden skirting board, so it installs quickly and does not swell from moisture. Because it is mould-produced, the cross-section and surface pattern of the profile repeat identically on every piece.
