A lightweight dome is a decorative ceiling element in a hemispherical, inward-curved form made from polyurethane and mounted on the ceiling. It is used in entrance halls, dining areas and around chandeliers to add depth to a space. Polyurethane is much lighter than a plaster dome, so it can be carried as a single piece and applied directly to the ceiling with construction adhesive. It resists moisture and impact, will not crack or swell, and can be painted. Because it is moulded, the ornamental details on the dome's inner surface repeat identically on every piece.
