Ionic column capital
An Ionic column capital is a polyurethane element that sits on top of the column shaft, recognised by the scroll (volute) ornaments curling to each side. It is the distinctive part of the classical Ionic order and is used to complete a column shaft or directly on a wall as a decorative capital. The polyurethane material is light and applies with mounting adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, will not crack or blister, and can be painted. Being far lighter than a stone equivalent, it is easy to position and installs quickly. Because it is mould-cast, the volute scrolls and surface details repeat exactly across every piece. Polure produces Ionic column capitals in sizes to suit different column diameters.
