scallop shell decor

Scallop shell decor is a polyurethane decorative element inspired by the fan-shaped, radially fluted form of a scallop shell. In classical architecture it is a motif used at the top of niche arches, in over-door pediments and as wall ornamentation. It is applied inside a niche or onto a wall with mounting adhesive. The polyurethane material is light; it resists moisture and impact, will not crack or blister, and can be painted. Being lighter than a plaster equivalent, it is easy to position and installs quickly. Because it is mould-cast, the radial fluting details of the shell repeat exactly across every piece. Polure produces scallop shell decor in a range of sizes.
