A scallop shell motif arch is a polyurethane decorative arch element carrying the fan-shaped, radial form of a scallop shell at its apex. In classical architecture it is used as an ornamented arch framing the top of wall niches and door passages. The arch form and the scallop motif are combined in a single piece and applied over the niche with mounting adhesive. The polyurethane material is light; it resists moisture and impact, will not crack or blister, and can be painted. Being far lighter than a stone or plaster equivalent, it is easy to carry and installs quickly. Because it is mould-cast, the arch and shell fluting details repeat exactly across every piece.
