ionic column head

The ionic column head is a polyurethane capital element placed at the very top of columns of the Ionic order, recognised by the volute (spiral) ornaments on either side. It forms the transition between the column shaft and the structure above, completing the capital section. It is used on decorative columns indoors and outdoors. Polyurethane is lightweight; it is applied to the column shaft with mounting adhesive, resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell, and can be painted. Being lighter than stone and plaster, it makes installation at height easier. Because it is mould-cast, the volute curves repeat identically on every piece. Polure produces the ionic column head in sizes suitable for different column diameters.
