door side column

A door side column is a polyurethane column or pilaster element placed vertically on either side of a door opening. It is used to frame the door and give the passage a classical, monumental look. The polyurethane material is lightweight and is applied directly with mounting adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack, blister or warp, and can be painted. Because it is far lighter than a stone or plaster column, installation beside the door is easy and the load on the wall is low. Since it is mould-cast, the column fluting and decorative details repeat identically on every piece. Polure produces door side columns in a range of heights and profile options.
