door portal trim

Door portal trim is the general name for the polyurethane decorative pieces applied to the portal (casing set) that surrounds a doorway. It is built up across the two side jambs, the top lintel and, where present, the crowning section using profiles, dentils, consoles and rosettes. At interior and exterior door entrances it frames the opening and gives an architectural accent. The polyurethane material is light and is fixed directly with assembly adhesive and screws; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell and can be painted. Being lighter than its plaster equivalent makes overhead installation easier, and unlike wood it is unaffected by moisture.
