column capital cornice

A column capital is a polyurethane decorative capital piece fitted to the top of a column or half-column that works together with the ceiling cornice. It completes the transition between the column shaft and the ceiling and is used in classical architecture as a decorative element framing the column. It is preferred in entrance halls, living rooms and facade applications. The polyurethane material is lightweight and is fixed directly to the column top with construction adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, will not crack or blister, and can be painted. Being much lighter than marble or plaster counterparts, it is easy to install in high positions. Since it is mould-cast, the capital detail repeats identically on every piece.
