classic over-door pediment
A classic over-door pediment is a polyurethane top element placed above a door opening, drawing on the triangular or semicircular pediment tradition of classical architecture. It is used together with casings and frames to give the upper line of the door a symmetrical crown appearance. The polyurethane material is light and applied with mounting adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack, blister or warp, and can be painted. Its light structure makes installation easier at high points such as above a door, adding less weight than a plaster pediment. Because it is mould-produced, the form and dimensions are standard. Polure produces classic over-door pediments in sizes suited to different door widths.
