column base plinth

Column base plinth is the polyurethane piece that forms the base of a column, connecting the shaft to the floor or pedestal. It is placed at the lower end of the column shaft and provides a profiled base for the transition from the shaft to the floor. It is used together with the shaft and capital in facade and interior column applications. Polyurethane is lightweight and is fixed in place with assembly adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell, and can be painted. Being lighter than stone and concrete, it makes installation easier. Because it is mould-made, the profile repeats identically across every piece and is chosen to suit the shaft size.
