column wrap profile

A column wrap profile is a polyurethane cladding element, usually produced in a half-round or corner form, used to enclose and cover an existing column. Two or more parts are joined to wrap the column shaft, giving a plain concrete or steel column a decorative surface. The polyurethane material is lightweight and is applied to the column surface with installation adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack or blister, and can be painted. Because it is light, handling and joining the parts is easy on tall columns, requiring less labour than plaster cladding. Since it is mould-produced, the flute and surface texture are identical on every piece. Polure manufactures column wrap profiles in a range of diameters and heights.
