Stair Handrail

A stair handrail is the polyurethane profile at the top of a stair railing that is held by hand and runs the full length of the railing. Resting on the newel posts and balusters, it provides a gripping surface on the staircase and gives the railing a decorative line. Polyurethane is lightweight and is applied as a cladding over a load-bearing core, or as a ready-made profile fixed with mounting adhesive and screws. It resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell, and can be painted any colour. Being lighter than solid wood, it is easy to install and needs no extra joinery work along long handrail runs.
