furniture appliqués

A furniture appliqué is a polyurethane decorative part glued to the furniture surface to create relief ornamentation. It is used on cabinet, display unit, wardrobe and door facades; with flower, leaf and scroll motifs it gives a plain surface a carved look. It is common on classical and avant-garde furniture designs. Polyurethane is lighter than wood carving and is applied directly with wood glue or construction adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack, swell or warp, and can be painted. Because it is mould-cast, the same motif can be repeated across several pieces of furniture. Polure produces furniture appliqués in different sizes and motif options.
