A furniture crowning ornament is a polyurethane decorative piece that frames the top edge of furniture in a crown shape. It is used for crowning along the top line of wardrobes, display units and cabinets, giving the furniture an integrated upper finish. Polyurethane is lightweight and applied directly with assembly adhesive or wood glue; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack, swell or warp, and can be painted. Being lighter than a carved wood ornament, it adds no load to the furniture, and it is more break-resistant than plaster. Because it is mould-cast, ornament details repeat identically on every piece.
