furniture top ornament

A furniture top ornament is a polyurethane decorative piece added to the top edge of furniture such as wardrobes, display units or cabinets. It forms decoration in the shape of a crown or border along the top line of the furniture. Polyurethane is lightweight and applied directly with assembly adhesive or wood glue; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack, swell or warp, and can be painted. Being lighter than a carved wood ornament, it adds no load to the furniture, and it is more break-resistant than plaster. Because it is mould-cast, ornament details repeat identically on every piece.
