Modern precast applications describes plain-lined exterior facade solutions in which facade elements such as columns, architraves and cornices are produced in advance in a mould and installed on site. As an alternative to traditional precast concrete, polyurethane precast elements perform the same framing and accent function with a much lighter material. They are used in window surrounds, floor lines and entrance elements on residential and commercial building facades. The polyurethane material is light and is applied with suitable adhesive or fixings; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack, swell or peel and can be painted. Being lighter than precast concrete reduces the facade load and the need for cranes and labour.
