Patterned ceiling decor is the general name for polyurethane decorative elements with relief ornament applied to the ceiling surface. Pieces such as ceiling medallions, patterned cornices, and ceiling panels give a flat ceiling pattern and depth; they are used around lighting and at the centre of the ceiling. The polyurethane material is lightweight, applied directly to the ceiling with assembly adhesive, and cut to size; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack, swell, or warp, and can be painted. Being far lighter than plaster ceiling decor, it adds no load to the ceiling and installs quickly. Because it is mould-produced, the pattern details repeat identically on every piece.
