carved console support

A carved console support is a decorative polyurethane support piece with a carved-motif surface that carries a shelf or console top from below. Beneath tops, shelves and eaves it creates a diagonal support look, providing both a structural impression and carved ornamentation. The polyurethane material is lightweight; it is applied with construction adhesive and, where needed, screws, resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell, and can be painted. Unlike wood it is unaffected by moisture, and unlike plaster it is not brittle. Because it is mould-cast, the carved details repeat identically on every piece.
