A carved console bracket is a decorative polyurethane support element with a carved motif on its surface, mounted to the wall to carry a shelf or top. Beneath console tops, shelves, eaves and cornices it gives the look of a structural support while serving a decorative purpose with its carved ornamentation. The polyurethane material is lightweight; it is applied with construction adhesive and, where needed, screws, resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell, and can be painted. Unlike wood it is unaffected by moisture, and unlike plaster it is not brittle. Because it is mould-cast, the carved details are the same on every piece.
