carved furniture motif

A carved furniture motif is a decorative polyurethane ornament applied to furniture surfaces such as cabinets, doors, consoles and headboards, raised in relief by carving. It is bonded on to give furniture a classic or worked appearance. The polyurethane material is lightweight; it is applied directly with construction adhesive, resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell, and can be painted to match the furniture. Compared with wood carving it is lighter and more economical, and unlike plaster it is not brittle. Because it is mould-cast, the motif details repeat identically on every piece. Polure produces carved furniture motifs in a range of patterns and sizes.
