A polyurethane ceiling medallion is a round or oval polyurethane ceiling rose ornament applied at the centre of the ceiling around a chandelier or light fitting. By surrounding the chandelier connection point, it adds a central ornament and sense of depth to the ceiling. It is widely used in classic and neo-classical living rooms; smooth, acanthus-leaf or geometric-patterned models are available. The polyurethane medallion is lightweight, applied directly to the ceiling with assembly adhesive and has a central hole for the chandelier cable. It resists moisture and will not rot or crack, and it can be painted any colour. Being lighter than its plaster equivalent, it is installed quickly by one person.
