A polyurethane shelf bracket is a decorative polyurethane corbel part that carries or supports the shelf from below in wall-mounted shelves. With its profiled surface and curved form, it is usually placed under the shelf; it both gives a load-bearing appearance and serves as a decorative corbel. The polyurethane material is lightweight and is fixed to the wall with construction adhesive and, if needed, a screw. It resists moisture and impact, does not crack or blister and can be painted; unlike a wood corbel, it is unaffected by moisture. It is used for decorative purposes; on shelves carrying heavy loads, the actual support must be provided by wall plugs and brackets.
