under-shelf support
An under-shelf support is a polyurethane element placed beneath wall-fixed shelves that supports the shelf and adds a decorative relief. On console shelves, mantel tops and wall niches it serves both a load-bearing and an ornamental role. The polyurethane material is lightweight and applied directly with mounting adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell, and can be painted. It is more break-resistant than plaster equivalents and, unlike wood, is unaffected by moisture. Because it is mould-cast, the profile and relief detail repeat identically on every piece. Polure manufactures under-shelf supports in a range of sizes and profiles.
