Relief work is the raised pattern and motif craftsmanship found on the surface of polyurethane decorative products. It is applied to the surface of cornices, mouldings, wall panels and sconces to add depth and a textured look. Thanks to mould-based production, this work repeats with the same depth and sharpness on every piece. The polyurethane material is lightweight and applied with mounting adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell, and can be painted. It gives a more consistent result in series production than hand-carved wood, and is more break-resistant than plaster. When painted after mounting, the relief detail stands out.
