plain architectural surround

A plain architectural surround is a flat-profiled polyurethane frame element, free of raised embellishment, applied around the edge of a window or door. It is used to frame the edges of the opening and create a clean line on the facade. Polyurethane is lightweight, so it is fixed directly to the facade surface with construction adhesive. It resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell outdoors, and can be painted with exterior facade paint. Compared with a plaster or timber equivalent, it is unaffected by damp and installs in less time. Because it is mould-cast, the surround section repeats identically on every piece.
