Above-fireplace decoration is the process of dressing the top slab of a fireplace unit and the wall section above it with polyurethane profiles, crowns or panel elements. It is used to create ornamentation around a mirror, picture or shelf in the upper area of a decorative fireplace. The polyurethane elements used are lightweight and applied with mounting adhesive; they resist moisture and impact, do not crack or warp and can be painted. Because they are mould-cast, the profile and crown details repeat identically on every piece and give a clean alignment.
