water-resistant surround

A water-resistant surround is a window and door frame element made from polyurethane and suited to humid environments and exterior facades. A surround is the decorative band that frames the edges of windows and doors; since it is exposed to rain, moisture and weather on the facade, water resistance is important. Thanks to its closed-cell, non-absorbent structure, polyurethane resists moisture; it does not crack, swell or expand and withstands freeze-thaw cycles. It is lightweight, applied directly with mounting adhesive and can be painted. Compared with plaster and wood, it lasts much longer on exterior facades and needs no maintenance.
