Ceiling medallion types refer to the various diameter, form and pattern options of polyurethane medallions applied to the ceiling centre. Round, oval, plain or relief-patterned models are offered in sizes ranging from a small-diameter office ceiling to a wide living room ceiling. They are used to frame the area around the chandelier axis and add a central ornament to the ceiling. Polyurethane medallions are lightweight; they are fixed directly to the ceiling with mounting adhesive and need no support. They resist moisture and impact, do not crack, swell or warp, and can be painted. Being lighter than a plaster medallion, overhead installation is easy, and unlike wood they are unaffected by moisture.
