Fluted column cladding is the process of covering an existing load-bearing column with polyurethane pieces that have vertical grooves on their body. It is used to hide the raw appearance of concrete or steel columns and to give a space a classical column character; it is common in living rooms, entrance halls, shops and restaurants. The cladding pieces are usually produced as two half-shells and joined to wrap around the column. Because polyurethane is lightweight, installation is easy and quick even on tall columns; it resists moisture and impact and does not crack or warp. Since the surface can be painted, it can be adapted to any desired colour. Polure produces fluted column cladding elements in sizes suited to different column diameters, with standard flute spacing. When used together with capital and base complements, the column takes on a unified column appearance.
