round column shaft

A round column shaft is the main middle section of a cylindrical column extending between the base and capital. This piece, which determines the height and circular form of the column, can have a plain cylindrical surface or be produced with a fluted (channelled) surface. It is the main load-bearing-looking piece of decorative column systems and can also be applied in two half pieces to wrap an existing column. Round column shafts made from polyurethane are lightweight and mount easily and quickly. They resist moisture and impact, do not crack or swell, and can be painted; they do not change shape under exterior conditions. Polure produces round column shafts so the diameter and surface texture stay consistent, providing a smooth cylindrical surface compatible with the base and capital.
