- Step 1: Surface Inspection and Level Marking — Measure and mark the horizontal height line across the wall using a digital laser level. Clean dust and grease from the substrate using a dry cloth. Duration: 15–20 minutes. Common Mistake: Relying on floor-to-wall distance instead of a laser level, resulting in slanted installation lines over uneven floors.
- Step 2: Measuring and 45-Degree Miter Cutting — Measure wall segments accurately and transfer dimensions to the border profile. Execute 45-degree corner joints and 30-degree bevel joints for straight length extensions using a fine-toothed miter saw. Duration: 25–30 minutes. Common Mistake: Cutting miter angles in the wrong direction for internal versus external corners.
- Step 3: Polyurethane Adhesive Application — Apply continuous beads of polyurethane mounting adhesive along the rear bonding channels and joint cross-sections of the profile. Never use silicone adhesive. Duration: 10–15 minutes. Common Mistake: Applying insufficient adhesive on cut joint edges, leading to hairline cracks after thermal expansion.
- Step 4: Positioning and Mandatory Screw Fixing — Press the border molding firmly against the wall alignment line. Drive mechanical screws through pre-drilled pilot holes into wall plugs spaced every 40 to 60 cm for secure anchorage. Duration: 30–40 minutes. Common Mistake: Relying solely on adhesive without mechanical screw fixing, causing profile sagging before curing.
- Step 5: Joint Filling with Putty — Fill screw countersinks and profile connection joints using specialized joint putty. Remove excess material immediately using a flexible spatula. Duration: 20–25 minutes. Common Mistake: Applying thick coats of putty without wiping excess material, increasing sanding labor.
- Step 6: Sanding and Surface Levelling — Allow the putty to cure completely according to manufacturer instructions. Sand filled joints flush with the profile surface using fine grano 180-220 sandpaper. Duration: 15–20 minutes. Common Mistake: Using coarse sandpaper below 120 grit, which gouges the rigid polyurethane body and damages factory priming.
- Step 7: Priming and Double-Coat Final Painting — Apply an optional acrylic spot primer on filled joints if needed. Finish with two coats of water-based interior paint or UV-resistant exterior paint depending on application location. Duration: 40–60 minutes (excluding drying intervals). Common Mistake: Using standard interior paint on outdoor installations, causing premature UV discoloration.
