- Surface Inspection and Layout Grid Marking — Inspect the ceiling or wall substrate to ensure it is dry, clean, and structurally sound. Snap chalk lines along the ceiling to define the central axis for each beam installation. Estimated Time: 30 to 45 minutes. Common Mistake: Installing profiles directly over flaking paint or dusty, unprimed plasterboard without cleaning the surface first.
- Installation of Internal Ceiling Anchor Blocks — Fix wooden or metallic anchor blocks along the marked ceiling lines using appropriate expansion dowels and screws spaced every 60 cm. Estimated Time: 1 hour per 5-meter run. Common Mistake: Using weak plastic wall plugs unfit for the specific ceiling material (e.g., standard plugs in hollow drywall).
- Precise Measuring and 45-Degree Miter Cutting — Measure span dimensions twice. Cut the hollow polyurethane beams to length using a miter saw, executing clean 45-degree miter cuts for corner intersections or joint splices. Estimated Time: 20 minutes per beam segment. Common Mistake: Cutting profiles too forcefully, which can tear the outer edge of the density skin instead of producing a clean cut.
- Adhesive Application and Structural Mounting — Apply continuous beads of heavy-duty polyurethane assembly adhesive along the top flanges of the beam. Press the beam over the installed anchor blocks and secure side walls with countersunk screws. Estimated Time: 25 minutes per beam. Common Mistake: Utilizing standard neutral silicone instead of dynamic structural polyurethane adhesive.
- End Cap Integration and Joint Sealing — Glue pre-cut polyurethane end plates onto exposed beam ends. Apply polyurethane joint compound to all seams, butt joints, and sunken screw heads. Estimated Time: 30 minutes. Common Mistake: Filling joints with rigid gypsum plaster, which cracks during minor thermal movements.
- Surface Sanding and Surface Uniformity Adjustment — Allow the joint filler to cure completely. Sand patched areas smooth using fine grano 180-220 sandpaper until the surface transitions seamlessly into the surrounding profile texture. Estimated Time: 15 minutes per joint. Common Mistake: Using coarse sandpaper under 120 grit, which scratches and destroys the original factory-applied primer skin.
- Final Painting and Patina Coating Application — Apply an optional spot primer over sanded filler areas if needed. Finish the entire beam with 2 coats of quality water-based or solvent-based paint. Outdoor applications strictly require UV-resistant exterior coatings. Estimated Time: 2 hours (excluding drying time between coats). Common Mistake: Applying interior-grade acrylic paint on outdoor projects exposed to direct UV rays.
