- Step 1: Surface Inspection and Substrate Preparation — Inspect the exterior wall substrate around windows and doors. Clean all dust, loose plaster, grease, and moisture. The mounting zone must be completely dry and structurally sound before applying adhesives. Estimated Duration: 30-45 minutes per window opening. Common Error: Attempting installation over damp or dusty brickwork, which prevents polyurethane adhesive from bonding correctly.
- Step 2: Precision Measuring and 45-Degree Miter Cutting — Measure the perimeter dimensions of the window frame. Transfer measurements to the polyurethane profile and perform exact 45-degree miter cuts at corner intersections using a fine-tooth miter saw. Estimated Duration: 20-30 minutes per profile sequence. Common Error: Using coarse saws or guessing corner angles without a miter guide, causing wide gap errors at joint corners.
- Step 3: Polyurethane Adhesive Application — Apply continuous strips of high-grade polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesive along the rear bonding channels of the profile and along the mitered joint edges. Silicone must never be used. Estimated Duration: 10-15 minutes per length. Common Error: Using standard silicone or applying spot-dots of adhesive instead of full continuous beads along the profile back.
- Step 4: Positioning and Mandatory Mechanical Fixing — Press the polyurethane trim firmly against the wall substrate in alignment with reference marks. Secure the profile mechanically by driving stainless steel screws and wall anchors through the face of the molding into the substrate at 40-50 cm intervals. Estimated Duration: 15-20 minutes per profile piece. Common Error: Omitting mechanical anchors and relying solely on glue, which leads to profile slippage during wind load or expansion cycles.
- Step 5: Joint Filling and Sanding — Countersink screw heads below the profile surface. Fill screw holes and miter seams with flexible exterior joint putty. Once cured, sand all filled areas smooth using grano 180-220 sandpaper. Estimated Duration: 30 minutes (excluding curing wait time). Common Error: Using coarse sandpaper (below 120 grit) that scratches the smooth factory-primed profile surface.
- Step 6: Primer Verification and UV Paint Application — Verify the joint filler is smooth. While additional primer application is optional over factory-primed surfaces, apply two full coats of UV-resistant exterior masonry or acrylic paint across all installed profiles. Estimated Duration: 1-2 hours drying time between paint coats. Common Error: Painting with interior-grade paint or non-UV resistant paint, causing premature fading and surface weathering under sunlight.
