A decorative ceiling rose is a round polyurethane ornament mounted at the centre of the ceiling, usually smaller than a medallion. It is used to decorate the area around a chandelier or lighting outlet and to create a focal point on the ceiling. The polyurethane body is light and can be installed by one person with construction adhesive. It resists moisture and impact, does not crack, blister or warp, and can be painted in any colour. Being moulded, the relief patterns repeat with the same sharpness on every piece. Lighter than its plaster equivalent, it adds no extra load to the ceiling.
