patterned column base

A patterned column base is a polyurethane footing element with a relief motif on its surface, applied to the lower part where the column shaft meets the floor. It is used to seat the column shaft on the floor, present the transition neatly and complete the classical column as a whole. The polyurethane material is lightweight and goes on directly with assembly adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack, peel or warp, and can be painted. It is lighter than stone and plaster equivalents and easy to install. As the relief is mould-formed, the same motif repeats on every piece, produced to match the column diameter. Polure produces patterned column bases in a range of diameters and motifs, in sizes suited to the shaft.
