A plain skirting is a polyurethane skirting profile with a flat, simple cross-section, used at the lower edge where the wall meets the floor. It is applied to close the joint between the wall and the floor and to protect this line from impact and cleaning. The polyurethane material is light and is fixed directly to the wall with mounting adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack, swell or peel, and can be painted. Unlike wood skirting it is unaffected by moisture and water contact and does not warp; unlike plaster it does not break. The flat cross-section makes mitre corner joints easy.
