The P85060 skirting board offers a highly durable and visually appealing transition between flooring and walls. Measuring 122 mm in height and 19 mm in thickness, this profile provides a substantial architectural presence without overwhelming the room. It is designed to effortlessly conceal wiring, uneven floor edges, and expansion gaps, delivering a clean and structured finish to any interior or exterior space.
Manufactured from high-density rigid polyurethane with a density of 150-220 kg/m³, this profile matches the physical hardness of traditional softwood while remaining exceptionally lightweight. Its closed-cell structure keeps water absorption below one percent, ensuring it is resistant to swelling, rotting, warping, or cracking under changing environmental conditions. This makes it an ideal alternative to MDF or timber, which are highly susceptible to moisture damage and insect infestation.
In terms of design, the profile features a refined ogee curve at the top that flows smoothly into a flat, minimalist bottom half. This combination of classic and contemporary elements allows it to blend seamlessly into diverse architectural styles, from traditional apartments to modern, minimalist offices. The smooth surface is factory-prepped with a high-quality primer, ensuring excellent paint adhesion for your final coats.
Because of its moisture-resistant properties, this skirting board is suitable for demanding environments such as bathrooms, kitchens, spas, and wellness centers. It can also be safely utilized on outdoor patios and balconies when finished with a UV-resistant paint. Its impact-resistant surface ensures it withstands everyday wear and tear from vacuum cleaners, furniture, and heavy foot traffic.
Installation is straightforward and efficient. The profile is cut using standard woodworking miter saws, positioned, and fixed using a high-quality polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesive. For long-term structural integrity, mechanical fastening with screws is required. The surface comes with a factory-applied primer that prepares it for painting. However, because paint manufacturers do not guarantee adhesion on third-party pre-primed surfaces without their own system, applying an additional primer coat is optional and remains at the discretion of the installer.
Once secured, any joints and screw holes are filled with an acrylic compound, sanded smooth with 180-220 grit sandpaper, and finished with two coats of water-based or synthetic paint. Assess water and moisture exposure using the product technical data, surface finish and installation details.
- This 122 mm high skirting board is highly versatile and suitable for both residential and commercial projects
- In residential settings, it is perfect for living rooms, bedrooms, high-humidity bathrooms, and kitchens where traditional wood or MDF would fail due to water exposure
- In commercial environments, it serves as a robust wall protector in high-traffic hotel lobbies, office corridors, retail boutiques, and restaurant dining areas
- It can also be installed in semi-outdoor zones such as covered balconies, terraces, and veranda borders, provided it is finished with an exterior-grade, UV-resistant paint to prevent yellowing
- For a cohesive interior design, pair this profile with matching wall panels or door architraves to create a unified wainscoting effect
- Ensure the application surface is clean, dry, and free of dust
- Cut the profiles to the required lengths, using 45-degree miter cuts for corners
- Apply a continuous bead of polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesive to the back mounting surfaces and joint edges of the profile
- Press the skirting firmly against the wall and secure it mechanically with screws at regular intervals to guarantee a permanent bond
- Wipe away any excess adhesive immediately
- Once cured, fill all screw holes and joint seams with a flexible acrylic filler
- Sand the filled areas smooth with a 180-220 grit sandpaper
- While the factory-applied primer prepares the surface, you may apply an optional extra coat of primer before finishing with two coats of high-quality water-based or synthetic paint
- Maintenance is exceptionally simple
- The non-porous surface can be wiped clean with a damp cloth or mild soapy water
- Avoid using highly acidic cleaners, abrasive pads, or strong chemical solvents
- In the event of heavy impact damage, the affected area can be easily repaired by applying a standard interior/exterior joint filler, sanding it smooth once dry, and applying a touch-up coat of the original paint
Can this skirting board be used in wet areas like bathrooms?
Yes, completely. Because it is made of high-density rigid polyurethane with a closed-cell structure, its water absorption rate is under 1%. Assess water and moisture exposure using the product technical data, surface finish and installation details.
Do I need to apply an extra coat of primer before painting?
The product comes with a factory-applied primer that provides a good base for painting. However, paint manufacturers typically only guarantee their paint's adhesion when their own proprietary primer is used first. Therefore, applying an additional primer layer is optional and depends on your paint brand's guidelines and personal preference.
What are the advantages of polyurethane over MDF or wood skirting boards?
Assess water and moisture exposure using the product technical data, surface finish and installation details. It has a high density of 150-220 kg/m³, offering wood-like impact resistance while remaining much lighter and easier to install.
Can this profile be installed on outdoor terraces?
Yes, it is suitable for outdoor use. However, because raw polyurethane can yellow under direct sunlight, you must coat the profile with a high-quality, UV-resistant exterior paint. Ensure all joints are sealed with an exterior-grade joint filler during installation.
What adhesive should be used for installation?
You must use a high-quality polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesive to mount the profiles to the wall and glue the joints together. Do not use standard silicone adhesives, as they do not provide the necessary structural bond. Mechanical fastening with screws is also required for a secure fit.
