A wide ceiling medallion is a large-diameter, broad-surface polyurethane decorative medallion placed at the centre of the ceiling. It is used in high-ceilinged and large halls to create a decorative centre around a chandelier or lighting fixture. Polyurethane is lightweight and is applied directly to the ceiling with mounting adhesive. It resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell, and can be painted to match the ceiling colour. Despite its large diameter, it is light compared to a plaster medallion, so it installs easily and adds no extra load to the ceiling.
