The P9106 decorative ceiling dome is an architectural feature designed to add exceptional depth and classical structure to grand interiors. By introducing a recessed dimensional element, this product transforms plain, flat ceilings into sophisticated focal points, enhancing the overall volume and scale of any room. It serves as an ideal design solution for projects aiming to incorporate traditional architectural proportions into modern or neoclassical layouts.
Measuring 1345 mm in diameter with a depth of 227 mm, this dome offers a substantial presence without the structural challenges of traditional materials. Manufactured from high-density rigid polyurethane (150-220 kg/m³), it possesses a hardness comparable to hardwood while remaining remarkably lightweight. This material selection supports moisture resistance, dimensional stability, and reduces the risk of warping, cracking, or decaying over time, even in humid environments.
Visually, the dome features a balanced central sunburst motif with radiating petals originating from a beaded center ring. This recessed pattern is framed by a deep, smooth cove that leads to an outer rim decorated with a precise sequence of delicate rosette relief details. The play of light across these deep-set patterns and raised details creates rich shadows, making it a perfect accompaniment for central lighting fixtures and chandeliers.
This decorative architectural element is highly versatile, finding its place in premium residential and commercial spaces alike. It is frequently specified for grand hotel lobbies, luxury villa reception halls, ballroom ceilings, high-end restaurants, and spacious living rooms. Whether used as a standalone ceiling feature or integrated into a larger paneling design, it elevates the ceiling plane into an active decorative surface.
Installation is straightforward and far cleaner than gypsum plaster alternatives. The dome is secured using a high-quality polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesive along its edges, combined with mandatory mechanical screw fastening into structural framing for absolute safety. The product arrives with a factory-applied primer that prepares the surface for painting. While ready for final coats, applying an additional primer compatible with your chosen paint brand is recommended to ensure full warranty coverage from the paint manufacturer.
- This large decorative ceiling dome is primarily designed to act as a dramatic central feature on ceilings in spacious, high-ceilinged interiors
- It is highly recommended for luxury living rooms, grand entrance halls, hotel reception lobbies, wedding halls, and upscale dining venues
- The flat central plate is designed to be drilled easily to accommodate the suspension chain and wiring of heavy chandeliers or hanging light fixtures
- Thanks to the moisture-resistant properties of the high-density polyurethane material, this dome can also be installed in covered outdoor areas such as grand porticos, entryways, or covered terraces, provided it is finished with a high-quality, UV-resistant exterior paint to protect it from sunlight exposure
- Ensure the ceiling surface is clean, dry, and structurally sound before beginning
- Position the dome and mark the placement of structural joists for anchoring
- Apply a continuous bead of high-strength polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesive to the contact rim of the dome
- Lift the dome into place and secure it immediately using mechanical screws driven directly through the pre-marked points into the ceiling joists or solid backing
- Countersink the screw heads slightly
- Fill the screw holes and any perimeter gaps with a high-quality acrylic filler
- Once dry, sand the filled areas smooth with 180-220 grit sandpaper
- Apply an optional primer coat if required by your paint manufacturer, followed by two coats of water-based or synthetic paint
- The polyurethane dome is extremely low-maintenance and durable
- For regular cleaning, simply dust the recessed details or wipe with a damp cloth
- Avoid using harsh chemical solvents or abrasive cleaning agents on the painted surface
- Unlike plaster, the material does not flake or crumble, and it is highly resistant to insect damage, rot, and mold
- If you decide to change the room's color scheme in the future, the surface can be easily repainted with standard interior or exterior paints
Can a heavy chandelier be hung directly from this polyurethane dome?
No, the decorative dome itself is not designed to support structural weight. Any chandelier or heavy light fixture must be anchored directly to the structural ceiling joist or concrete slab above the dome, passing through a hole drilled in the dome's center.
How does polyurethane compare to traditional gypsum plaster domes?
Polyurethane is significantly lighter, making installation much safer and less labor-intensive. Assess water and moisture exposure using the product technical data, surface finish and installation details.
Is this ceiling dome suitable for outdoor use?
Yes, because the closed-cell polyurethane material has low water absorption (below 1%), it can be used outdoors in covered areas like entryways or porticos. However, you must apply a UV-resistant exterior paint to prevent the material from yellowing over time under indirect sunlight.
Does the dome require a special primer before painting?
The product comes pre-primed from the factory, making the surface ready for paint. However, to ensure the long-term performance and warranty of your chosen paint, we recommend applying an additional primer that matches the paint manufacturer's guidelines.
What type of adhesive should be used for mounting?
You must use a high-strength polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesive on the contact edges. Standard silicone adhesives should not be used. For safety reasons, mechanical screw fastening into structural joists is also mandatory alongside the adhesive.
