above-window ornament piece

An above-window ornament piece is a single relief or profiled polyurethane decorative element placed along the top edge of a window. It is used on facades and in interiors to adorn the upper section of a window and give the frame a finish. Polyurethane is lightweight and is applied directly to the wall with adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell, and can be painted. It is easier to carry and install than plaster and, unlike wood, is unaffected by damp. Because it is moulded, the ornament details repeat identically on every piece. Polure produces above-window ornament pieces in sizes to suit different window widths, and they can be used with a surround.
