above-window crown

An above-window crown is a polyurethane decorative header mounted along the top edge of a window to crown it. It is used on facade and interior windows to give a classic top finish. Polyurethane is lightweight and is applied directly to the wall with adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell, and can be painted. Installation is fast and easy compared with plaster and, compared with wood, it stands up to damp. Because it is moulded, the profile and details repeat identically on every piece. Polure produces above-window crowns in sizes to suit different window widths, and they can be used with surrounds.
