A polyurethane base rail top is an upper finishing piece that sits on the base rail profile or forms the transition between the handrail and the base rail. It is used in railing and balustrade systems as an ornamental and joining element at the top section. The material is lightweight and bonds directly with mounting adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, will not crack, swell or warp, and takes paint well. Outdoors, unlike plaster it is unaffected by moisture and temperature change, and unlike timber it does not rot.
