The 2PBK20D528H is a curved architectural top cap designed for classic balustrade and baluster systems, transforming standard safety railings into highly structured, premium features. This curved profile is engineered to seamlessly top rounded balconies, sweeping staircases, and curved terrace boundaries, providing a smooth transition and a solid, tactile finishing touch to high-end residential and commercial developments.
Manufactured with a substantial width of 275 mm, a length of 1332 mm, and a thickness of 50 mm, this profile offers a grand, robust presence. It is molded from a high-density rigid composite (150-220 kg/m³) that delivers the heavy, solid feel of traditional timber or stone without the associated weight. It exhibits excellent dimensional stability within a temperature range of -20 °C / +70 °C, and with low water absorption (below 1%), it remains highly resistant to rot, decay, insect damage, and warping over time.
The design of the profile features a classical stepped edge detailing on its outer curves, which creates a sophisticated play of light and shadow. The smooth, flat top surface provides a comfortable, ergonomic grip, while the curved geometry allows for continuous, flowing lines along spiral stairwells or rounded building facades. Its clean, white primed surface ensures a uniform canvas for the final color coat.
Ideal for luxury villas, boutique hotels, and historic restoration projects, this curved profile is designed for both interior grand staircases and exterior balustrade systems. It bridges the gap between classical masonry aesthetics and modern, low-maintenance construction materials, offering architects a durable solution for complex curved installations.
For installation, secure the components using a high-quality polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesive combined with mechanical screws for structural stability. The factory-applied primer prepares the surface for painting; however, an additional paint-primer is optional and recommended based on your paint manufacturer’s guidelines. Finish with a UV-resistant coating to ensure long-term color retention and surface protection in outdoor environments.
- This curved top-cap profile is specifically designed for rounded and arched architectural configurations
- It serves as the ideal finishing element for curved balcony railings, sweeping spiral staircases, rounded terrace boundaries, and classical garden balustrade systems
- In interior design, it can be utilized in grand entrance lobbies, luxury residential stairwells, and hotel mezzanines to provide a continuous, elegant handrail
- For exterior applications, it acts as a weather-resistant top barrier for rounded balusters or custom metal railings on classic facades
- Pair this 275 mm wide profile with matching baluster columns to create a cohesive, historically accurate architectural balustrade system
- Begin by ensuring all contact surfaces are clean, dry, and free of dust
- Measure and dry-fit the curved handrail sections to ensure precise alignment along the curve
- Apply a continuous bead of polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesive to the bottom mounting channels and joint interfaces
- Secure the profile mechanically using corrosion-resistant screws to ensure safety and structural integrity
- Fill all screw holes and joint lines with a high-quality exterior-grade acrylic or polyester filler
- Once cured, sand the joints smooth using 180-220 grit sandpaper
- The factory primer prepares the surface; however, an additional primer is optional and can be applied if required by your specific paint brand
- Finish with two coats of UV-resistant exterior paint
- This low-maintenance profile requires minimal upkeep compared to natural wood or stone
- For general cleaning, wipe the surface with a damp cloth or rinse with low-pressure water to remove dust and environmental buildup
- Avoid using abrasive scrubbing pads, high-pressure washers, or harsh chemical solvents
- Periodically inspect the paint finish, especially on exterior installations exposed to direct sunlight, and apply a fresh coat of UV-resistant paint if any surface weathering becomes visible over the years
Can the 2PBK20D528H curved handrail be used for outdoor balconies?
Yes, this profile is fully compatible with outdoor environments. Made from a high-density rigid composite with a water absorption rate under 1%, it is resistant to rain, snow, and humidity. To protect the material from long-term sun exposure, finishing the installation with a UV-resistant exterior paint is mandatory.
What adhesive should be used during installation?
For a secure and lasting bond, you must use a high-quality polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesive. Do not use standard silicone adhesives, as they do not provide the necessary structural strength for architectural handrail elements. Mechanical fastening with screws is also required for safety.
Does this product require an additional primer before painting?
The product comes with a factory-applied primer that prepares the surface for painting. However, paint manufacturers often require their own primers to validate their paint warranties. Therefore, applying an additional paint-specific primer is optional and left to the installer's preference.
How does this composite handrail compare to traditional wood or stone?
Unlike wood, this material does not rot, warp, splinter, or attract insects over time. Compared to natural stone or concrete, it is exceptionally lightweight, which reduces structural loads and simplifies installation. It maintains a high-density feel (150-220 kg/m³) while offering crisp, detailed classical profiles.
What are the exact dimensions and shape of this profile?
The 2PBK20D528H profile measures 275 mm in width, 1332 mm in length, and has a thickness/height of 50 mm. It features a distinct curved arc designed specifically for rounded balustrades, spiral stairs, or semi-circular balconies, with a multi-stepped classical profile on the outer edge.
